I think our children are in trouble. And the force of opinion is mounting.
I was sparked to write briefly on this by an article in today's The Daily Telegraph (UK) which likened schools to supermarket 'identitkits' (here)
I also recently spoke to Juliana Engberg, Creative Director of the Australian Centre for Contemporary Arts (www.accaonline.org.au) and worldwide commentator on art, architecture and it's place in society. In her opinon, while all eyes are on ticks and crosses on chidlren's work, we're ossifying as a culture. When there's no room for mistakes, there's no room for change and advance.
And Australian cartoonist and commentator, Michael Leunig, home schools because of it.
I'd love to hear everyone's comments - maybe some ideas of how we tackle it.
And this, this should be watched by everyone. It's light, witty, poignant and frightening.
